Hi.
1. Is it worth buying an iPod touch in the US?
2. Are there any additional (hidden) charges?
3. Is the device 100% identical to the one bought here?
4. Does all this apply as well to iPad/iPhones?
Thanks!

1. Depends on the dollar course, for me it would not be worth it right now
2. sales tax is added on the price you see in the shops, depending on states. customs might charge you if you import more then +-470EUR worth of goods
3. Yes, iPhones power adapters will of course be different
4. Yes works well if you buy unlocked iPhones, else you are probably stuck

iDevice = iDevice
The only accessory that changes is the power adapter which in the case of iPhone, iPad, iPod touch doesn't matter because you can charge with USB.
PS: when do you plan to go? (iPad3 is coming soon)

No, not me. A friend of mine goes soon.
The plan was that he could bring an iPod touch along.
But reading all this, I will reevaluate where to buy.

How much did you pay for it?
Do you remember the price in Europe for the iPad 3G at that time?
Any fees (customs, ...?)?
